Why isn't everything free?
In order to build traffic, iSJ was entirely free for nearly 8 years
-- and perhaps because of this, we've often been asked why
everything still can't be free.
The reason is because web sites like iSJ are costly in terms of both
time and expenses, and banner advertising can only cover a portion
of costs. Significant expenses include:
- The high traffic levels
and related server/bandwidth fees
- Programming requirements
- Technical and
administrative maintenance
- Time required for user
inquiries
As such, you'll find that
similar web sites with comparable traffic levels also require
payments for premium features and/or special ads (for example: $10
to $25 per week for "top ads", $5 to add a link, $2 to bump an ad,
$1 per photo, etc.).

Despite the above, nearly all ads are still free. However, there are
