New Bike Lane on Hilliard Street

Who was the "Genius" that thought this was a good idea? Talk about total confusion, someone is going to get seriously hurt here in the future. Why on God's Green Earth would they (the City) spend all that money (We are "Cashstrapped" last time I checked) to put in a bike lane that goes nowhere? I scratch my head whenever I go by there and look at the mess that they made of one of the most heavily traveled road in our City! I see many accidents and traffic snarls due to this "Brainstorm" in the future!

It's to replace the harbour passage that goes nowhere. I've biked on it and it's not really confusing. They just made Main St down to 2 lanes for Cars instead of 3...not that hard to figure out if you follow the traffic laws.

Well I hope I didn't jinx it, but I see there was a minor fender bender there just after supper time tonight. A car appeared to go straight through the now left turn only lane dedicated to union Street and it side swiped a car that was going straight onto St. Patrick Street from the straight lane that use to be for Water Street. Also I noticed in the morning the line waiting to go through the lights onto St. Patrick Street moves slower due to people thinking the're in the lane that was normally dedicated for St. Patrick, only to find out that it is now for a left turn onto Union Street...thus slows down the people coming from the off ramp to the uptown area, slowing down the Harbour bridge traffic even more. One last thing have you seen the transport trucks trying to turn onto Hilliard from Chesley Drive, takes them a couple of minutes so they dont hit the markers `meant for the bike lane. I still think it was a stupid idea to put a bike lane there..............just sayin!

And it's not that hard to figure out the Rubix Cube if you follow the instructions...................but most people don't!

Well in "real" cities with "real" traffic depts they put up overhead signs well in advance of the intersections to let you know which lane is which. In this city they don't even paint lines or arrows on the road. All the money goes to {insert ANY mayor's name here}'s follies and HE WHO MUST NOT BE NAMED <grin>
