My first rant is the fact that back in early 2000 the federal gov. changed rules for child support on tax returns it is no longer a tax deduction for the parent who pays it and not counted as a source of income for the parent receiving it. It is stated that both parents are responsible to financially provide for the child. So why hasn't the provincial gov changed the way support is viewed?? Its a crock that someone on IA has to claim child support and have it deducted from their cheque!!! With the cost of living rising incredibly, and the base rate of assistance not moving, something needs to be changed!
Also it would be great if the provincial government would settle with the NB Dentists so IA can have proper use of their health cards! Its not like someone on IA has hundreds of dollars to put up front for dental work especially a single parent of 2 with a child with special requirements. The Dentists are not asking much, just to be fairly paid!!
Come on Blaine Higgs and Sue Stultz give your heads a shake and do something!
