Slugs, Slugs and more Slugs

Anybody want these f'n things?????

Has anybody tried the cornmeal method of killing slugs in their gardens??

I've got to get rid of them but I can't do eggshells, there's just too much ground to cover and hundreds if not thousands of the buggers!!!

Anyone else having this problem?

You too?!!!!

These things are disgusting and I seem to be more over run with them than usual. They say every bug has a 10 year peak cycle, I think this year is the slugs peak.
The birds are eating them, the groundhog is eating them. We cannot stay ahead of them.
1.
Step 1

put a few tablespoons of corn meal into your jar or container
2.
Step 2

put the jar, on it's side, in your garden
3.
Step 3

go out the next day and check, you will find dead slugs in and around the jar, because slugs LOVE corn meal but when they eat it, they explode and die!
Worth a try. Here is another one to try.
1.
Step 1

Get some sawdust. You can make it yourself or you can go to any lumber yard and they'll probably just give some to you.
2.
Step 2

Go out to the infected area and ring your plants with sawdust. Typically I create a ring about four inches away from the stalk of the plant. Try to make your ring about 1 inch wide and 1/2 inch tall.
3.
Step 3

If you have the patience and the weathers nice you can Just sit back and observe. Watch the slug slide over the ring of sawdust and begin to writhe in agony as the moisture is absorbed from it body.
4.
Step 4

If you want to make it especially painful on the slug top off your sawdust ring with a layer of salt. You can almost hear them scream.
LOL

I'm trying the cornmeal method tonight in one location to see if that works.

Problem with the salt is it will also kill your plants.

Slugs

The last time I had this problem, I actually used beer! The yeast from the beer draws them in and they drown, or something like that, lol. It worked for me!

Slugs

We are having a time with them too this year. I have been told to use the beer as well. A freind used ot on a tin foil pie plate and set it out. The next morning there a lot of dead slugs. They had even climbed over each other to get at it. So I am going to give it a try as I am sick of the damage they are doing to my plants.
I did try the dish soap and water and no luck.

I actually tried using a dog dish with some beer in the bottom, but unfortunately I didn't make it deep enough. I did catch some slugs, however after they sobered up they slithered off again!!!
