SALARY: $57,096 to $79,742 per year (Pay Band 5) (Based on 37.5 hours per week) JOB PURPOSE: The Clinical Research Manager is responsible for the management and operations of the Healthy Seniors Pilot Project (HSPP) NB Palm. The Clinical Research Manager directs and coordinates all facets of clinical research conducted with NB Palm. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Requirements - Degree in science or health-related discipline. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. - Minimum 5 years of recent related clinical experience, including 3 years in project coordination and/or research management. Abilities and Knowledge Required - Extensive leadership skills, with strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills. - Strong management skills, including problem solving abilities, critical thinking, excellent judgment and decision-making skills. - Strong organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, establish project timelines and track multiple deliverables. - Ability to supervise and train staff, including prioritizing and scheduling work assignments. - Demonstrated ability to evaluate and manage clinical trials protocol. - Knowledge of Health Canada and FDA regulations, and other legislation/standards pertaining to clinical trials. - Ability to design and implement systems necessary in the collection, maintenance and analysis of data. - Facilitation and presentation skills. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and clinical trials software. - Ability to attend work on a regular basis. - Ability to perform the duties of the position. - Good work record. - Written and spoken competence in English is required KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Manages the planning, implementation and administration of the NB Palm study. - Reviews study protocol to determine study feasibility and adequate financial support from sponsor. - Manages the collection of clinical research data. - Plans, coordinates and reviews the development and maintenance of comprehensive and detailed study records and logs. - Monitors, tracks, and collects study-related metrics and provides regular reports on study progress as required. - Ensures that the scientific and ethical reviews of all protocols comply with sponsor requirements and associated legislation, regulations, guidelines and policies governing the conduct of human research subjects. - Maintains communication with REB/HRPP and ensures that all regulatory paperwork is complete and submitted to HRPP/REB and Sponsor. - Maintains communication with Sponsor and Principal Investigator. - Ensures that all regulatory study documentation is complete, appropriately maintained and filed. - Evaluates any clinical care services and associated administrative activities associated with the research project. - Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient and safe operation of the research project. - Determines training requirements for members of the research team and ensures appropriate training is provided as required. - Assigns members of the research team to projects as required, tracks their performance, and assesses workload. - Assists in the recruitment and interviewing of research staff and conducts regular performance appraisals, coordinates vacation schedules and ensures adequate systems and processes are in place to manage the research team. - Ensures the research study follows the policies and procedures established by the Office of Research Services. - Establishes and coordinates quality improvement programs, as needed.
