Laptop Touchpad

Does anyone know of a way to turn off the touchpad on a Dell Inspiron Laptop?

I'm so tired of spending so much time on typing something in and accidentally touching the pad and "oops, everything is gone" it's really starting to tick me off!!!!

I don't have a dell but my touchpad button is a small button right above the touchpad. It kinda almost blends in

If yours doesn't have a button to turn it off (some Dells don't), you can tape a piece of paper over it to reduce the sensitivity. Doesn't look great but can save LOTS of headaches and retyping.
