Motels in Maine/New Hampshire

Hi, Can anyone recommend a cheap motel/hotel in either Portland Maine or North Conway, NH?? So far I have found rooms in the $80 range as the cheapest, but would love to find something cheaper if that exists!! Thanks!

Don't always go on the average price TA uses for their listings as a lot of hotels/motels have different grades of rooms. I'm sure you'll find something. I've been in and out of Maine/NH several times in the last couple of years.

I really like Portland a lot and North Conway is a bit of a bore for me as I'm not much of a shopper but there are a few good restaurants around plus lots of natural beauty outside of town.

Thanks dan j, those links were very helpful! I found one place in Portland for $79 and another in North Conway for $64!! I never thought of using Trip Advisor to look into hotels that way, but I will from now on!! Thanks again!

I would recommend staying in Portland one night and maybe Bangor the other.

I just got back from a weekend trip down to North Conway, just hit up the outlet stores during the day and head back to Portland for a night.

North Conway is beautiful in the Winter but there really isn't much to do there in the summer, downtown Portland has a nice night scene. And if you do choose to stay in Bangor for a night, I recommend the Ramada. It has this club in it called Barnaby's that is the most happening spot on a Saturday night. Enjoy your deals and don't forget Mardens!

If you do stay in North Conway, Moat Mountain Smokehouse is one of the main spots open a bit later at night for some good times. They also brew their own beer and many of them are tasty. Their thin crust pizzas are a good eat if you're not too hungry and their BBQ is what you want if you're in for lots of food.

North Conway is awesome! I stayed went there for Black Friday shopping in November and had a great time. We stayed at the Attitash Mountain Lodge & Resorts...Not sure what the prices are but everything was beautiful there...There was even an outdoor hot tub!!

You can get books with Hotel Discounts for the US at the McDonads across from IGA, or at the Tourism in downtown Calais. You may be able to save even more money with there coupons. I have one here at my house for August - September if you would like to have it. Drop me a PM if interested. Sue

I stayed at the Ramada in Bangor a couple of months ago. It was horrible! Crappy service, smelly room, and highway robbery for breakfast in their resteraunt. The only thing going for them is the hotel bar.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I ended up staying at the Holiday Inn in South Portland for $83 (taxes in) and the Colonial Inn in North Conway for $63 (taxes in). I highly recommend both if anyone is going down there anytime soon! They were both very clean and central for shopping and sightseeing. The Colonial Inn is a little outdated, but the friendly family atmosphere and fire pit outside makes up for it!! (Oh and the price too!)
